ABOUT ME
I’m Kim Vogel
I‘m a public company board member, former CFO, and current instructor in Stanford University’s Continuing Education program. My path has taken me through the worlds of corporate finance, board governance, and executive education, roles that have challenged me to grow, listen deeply, and lead with clarity. But titles have never been the point. What matters most is how we show up, for our teams, our companies, our students, and our communities. I have a deep commitment to elevating the role of finance in shaping the future. My work is a reflection of what I’ve learned over decades: that strong leadership is rooted in service, that finance is merely a lever for impact, and that the most meaningful achievements are shared.
Leading Through
Experience.
My mission is to equip leaders with the mindset and tools to lead with confidence in an age of mega-complexity and disruption. My work blends boardroom insight, technology fluency, and real-world leadership, backed by experience and driven by purpose.
Leading the
Future of Finance
At Stanford, I teach the next generation of finance leaders how to evolve beyond traditional roles—becoming strategic business partners equipped to lead with influence and insight. This course equips them with the strategic mindset and advanced skills to thrive in today’s dynamic environment, blending modern finance principles, data-driven strategies, and the “architect, navigator, data scientist” framework that reflects the evolving role of CFOs and finance professionals.

Trusted Voice in
the Boardroom.
With extensive experience across public and private boards, I’m committed to bringing clear perspective, balanced judgment, and practical solutions to the boardroom. My approach centers on fostering trust, navigating complexity, and driving results that stand the test of time.

Boardrooms, Balance Sheets & Brave Choices
A career built on calculated risks, unexpected turns, and an unshakable belief in possibility.

The Uniform Years
Seventeen years of plaid skirts, discipline, and a head full of big ideas.

Best Thing I Never Saw Coming
Laid Off, Leveled Up: When KPMG showed me the door, I found a better one and it opened straight to Harvard. Sometimes the plot twist is the point.

Dear Kim, Welcome to a Different Life
That envelope from Harvard Business School didn't just change my career it rewrote the script- two years later, the world looked bigger, bolder, and far more possible.

The Dot-Com Crash Course
Investment banking in the tech boom: long hours, impossible deals, and a front-row seat to history.

Banking in Your Back Pocket
At mFoundry, we built the first mobile banking app for Citibank, before “apps” were even a thing, turning "what's next" into what’s next and rewriting the rules of finance on a tiny screen.

The View from the Other Side of the Table
A relentless attempt to lead with gratitude and service, in a world of constant hard choices. But in every step, the path unfolds despite the whole map remaining a mystery.

Where My Real ROI Lives
Two kids, infinite joy, and an every day reminder that the best investments pay in hugs, not dividends.
